According to RIA Novosti, METALLICA's final concert of its Sick of the Studio '07 tour in Moscow on Wednesday (July 1
will be attended by some 60,000 fans and over 3,000 security officers.
METALLICA launched its tour in Lisbon June 28, and has already performed for Spanish, Belgian, Greek, Austrian, British, Norwegian, Swedish, Danish and Finnish audiences.
Special headquarters have been established to coordinate security provisions by police, emergencies officers and doctors at the Luzhniki stadium. In addition, a mounted unit of some 70 policemen will be on patrol.
The band has visited Russia only once before, with a concert taking place at the peak of their fame, in 1991.
Established in 1981, METALLICA released its first album, "Kill 'Em All", in late 1983 and achieved "world domination" in 1986. METALLICA is now the seventh-biggest selling act in American history.

Yeah you're right, but no worries, the next tour is just a question of time! After the album is done, they will be back for more action

Hey guys, have you read blou's story from moscow? It's fucking awesome!
Here's his post from the metclub Board:
quote: |
RIGHT!! where do i start? how about - what happened in lisbon was NOTHING compared to what happened in moscow!
after seeing the city the day before, i went to the venue about 2:30 - two hours before the gate opened. i met up with my belgian buds Dennis, Filip and Bart and of course Jeff (hero!) later on, Dennis came up to us saying that Jeff needed some help, so we were only too happy to oblige - we got our workers passes and went back to Stuart in the production office saying he needed people to watch that all the ticket stubs were put in the bags provided - that no trash was put in with them, and that NOBODY took the bags away. so we were assigned a gate and watched over the guards putting the right tickets in the right bags. around three hours later, these guys tried to take the bags, but i took the bags off them and went back to the production office. stuart said i could just hang around for a while before he came back to take me out into the pit. 15mins before metallica took the stage, bart and filip came in to join me. we waited for stuart but then we heard the ACDC tape... we couldnt get out without being escorted so we thought we were gonna miss the start of the gig! we stood in the corridor, and we see commosion down the end of the hallway... Metallica were ready to go and we were still backstage! James walked past...... Rob walked past..... Kirk walked past........ so close to them but we didnt say anything as im sure they were "in the zone" at the time.
THEN.
Lars comes out and walks past.
"Hey man! how's it going?!"
He stopped and shook my hand!
"Shouldn't you be out there now?"
i told him we were waiting for someone to bring us, to which he replied
"well come on then, dont be shy! come with me!"
FUCK! i motioned to bart and filip to follow, but here was me, walking right beside lars ulrich with all the escorts and guards around us, walking up the ramp, him saying "dont be shy!" fucking unbelievable, everybody cheering as we were walking up the back of the stage.... Lars then told Jeff to put us at the side, and all i could repeatedly say was "thanks very much! thanks very much! aw this is great, thanks very much!" i felt like an idiot but i couldnt say anything else! he shook my hand and said enjoy the show - we were standing at the side of the stage watched the show! XTC started up and i havent gotten goosebumps like that since my very very first show. the lads came out and we headbanged like nuts.... james was over the side of the stage and i was taking pictures behind him - watching the crowd was unREAL.... it was JAM PACKED and they were definately the LOUDEST crowd of the tour!
.....THEN
As i was taking a picture of behind james at the side mic, i get a tap on my shoulder and jeff motioned me backwards. i thought i had gone too far or was too visible to the crowd or done something wrong, so i felt bad. but then i realised he was motioning me to come WITH him! Jeff then put me RIGHT BEHIND LARS underneath the sick of the studio ramps where they all go in after songs and where all the tech lads are............................................!!! i couldnt fucking believe it! i was now watching the the show from DIRECTLY behind lars! i could see 70000 russians but they couldnt see me! after disposable heroes, lars comes back in
"hey man, hows it going... i've got a seat JUST for you!"
Lars then put me in - quote - THE COCKPIT - saying that apart from his seat, it was the best seat in the house! it was just to the left of the curtain in this comfortable fold out seat and i could now see perfectly the entire stage and crowd.... unbefuckinglievable!
"would you like a sandwich or anything?!"
"actually yes please!"
he laughed and went back out for Orion. i was sittin there drumming away, headbanging, sometimes stood up to airguitar, and lars kept coming back in and would talk to me again... it really didnt sink in what the HELL was happening! i stayed there the whole show!
...................... THEN
after Horsemen, Lars comes in
"do you play drums?"
"uuuuuh no...BUT! i do a MEAN count in!"
"you wanna come do it?"
i cant remember if i shit myself right then, or when he brought me out to stand by his drumkit in front of 70,000!
"FUUUUUUUUUCK! there must be 80 MILLION PEOPLE!"
"well more like 70,000 but around that yeah! you know what to do?"
"FUCK YEAH I KNOW WHAT TO DO!"
Jeff was taking pictures, the cameras were on me, the crowd was cheering, rob and kirk were watching smiling, and Hetfield was talking to the crowd. Lars showed me which cymbal to smash and i took two drumsticks.
"then afterwards, fuck off back there again and i'll see you afterwards!"
"yeah then i'll go get that sandwich u promised!"
Lars laughed but i heard James starting to shout SEEK and i screamed as loud as i could AAAAND DESTROOOOOOOOOY before smashing the fucking SHIT out of the top cymbal! 1 2 3 4! the riff started and i said cya to lars, and steve took me back to the side to watch the song. afterward, rob came up and we high fived - he said "every show man!" - of course i didnt say "well technically i didnt see everyone coz i had to go graduate" - so i just said "yeah every fuckin show! cya!" Then i hear "OI!" i turned around and Lars was there again looking right at me - "see you soon alright duder?" - i said "cya next year lars! thank you!"
and that was it. Filip was still there and he got a manly handshake off James - i held up my hand to filip and realised it was shaking - i wouldve never in my wildest dreams imagine what just happened. We went back to the production office, had some pictures with Jeff as it was the last gig, and headed off back to the hostel.
Dennis, thank you for thinking of me when jeff needed help - Jeff THANK YOU SO MUCH for EVERYTHING you've done on this tour!!! you are the fuckin man...........and LARS.............................. you are the biggest fucking legend, i am eternally grateful, and i hope you realise just HOW grateful i am even though the phrases "thanks very much" and "thanks this is great!" were the only things i could think of!....i just need a way to repay these guys! but how?!
It was the best 3 weeks of my life - thank you metallica but thank you to all the people along the way who i met - metclub is awesome!
so.........same again next year?! |
All i can say he is THE man of the tour and i think nothing bigger and better could ever happen to a metallica fan...just wow
